Bonnie Brahaney may not like heights, but that hasn’t stopped her from rappelling down a 16-story building for the past three years. The nurse practitioner with ProMedica Hematology/Oncology Associates has been supporting the Over the Edge for Victory presented by ProMedica Cancer Institute event since 2018. The annual event raises funds for The Victory Center, a local organization that is dedicated to supporting cancer patients and survivors in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
ProMedica Cancer Institute is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Over the Edge for Victory. The Victory Center offers a variety of therapies, support groups and resources free of charge to cancer patients and survivors. It is a privilege to have a partner in providing support to cancer patients and survivors in the communities that we serve.
Bonnie will be going “over the edge” for the fourth year in a row this September. She shares that going over the edge was something that she was always interested in doing, and although she doesn’t like heights, she has never been scared to rappel.
“The Victory Center is near and dear to my heart since it helped my own family member, my late sister, get through a very difficult time during her battle with breast cancer,” shares Bonnie. “I believe that my sister is there with me at each rappel, helping me to not be nervous and take the step over the edge.”
Bonnie shares that she chooses to participate in Over the Edge for Victory and other fundraising events hosted by The Victory Center to help raise money to support her patients at ProMedica Physicians Hematology/Oncology Associates. “Everyone at The Victory Center is so kind. Many of the people who work or volunteer there were once cancer patients themselves and are now helping other people through their own battles with cancer.”
Money raised by Bonnie and other rappelers will go toward funding programs at The Victory Center so that they can continue to offer their services to cancer patients in the community free of charge.
